β Take an ultralight hiking tent for 2 people
β Check out quick-assembly tents (practical, easy to store)
β Here, it usually pays to get a double-layer tent (comfort + better performance in bad weather)
β Practical if you want somewhere to store your shoes/backpack outside the bedroom
β When you’re more concerned with protection from the sun/rain than sleeping
1) Number of people (better to have some leeway)
- If you want comfort, follow this simple rule:
2 people β rather a tent for 3, 3 people β rather a tent for 4.
2) Type of tent (this is the most important factor)
- Tourist / ultralight β when every gram counts
- Self-erecting / 2 seconds β when you want speed and peace of mind
- Quick-erecting β quick to set up + more space
- Family β comfort, longer stays, stability
3) Construction: single-wall vs double-wall
- Double-wall is usually a better choice for multi-day camping and changeable weather
- Single-wall can be lighter and simpler (great for shorter trips)
4) Dimensions and interior comfort
- You can filter by length/width (approx. 205β365 cm and 125β220 cm) in the categories β useful if you want to be sure of the space available.
5) Water column
The water column (in mm) indicates how well the material will withstand rain β ideally, check the flysheet and groundsheet separately.
- Flysheet: approximately 1500β3000 mm
- Floor: preferably 3000 mm and above
(For multi-day stays and worse weather, higher values are recommended.)
