How to choose a tent

A tent is the basis for comfortable camping – it is just important to choose the right type depending on where you are going, how many of you there will be and how quickly you want to set it up.

Our range includes touring tents, self-erecting tents (2 seconds), quick-erect tents and family double-wall models.

  Key parameters to focus on

1) I want a lightweight tent for hiking/cycling (as small and practical as possible)

βœ” Take an ultralight hiking tent for 2 people

2) I want a tent for a weekend/festival and don’t want anything complicated

3) I want a tent that I can pitch really quickly, but that is more spacious

βœ” Check out quick-assembly tents (practical, easy to store)

4) I am looking for a family tent – comfort, space, several days in one place

5) I want something in between – a compact tent with a “vestibule”

βœ” Practical if you want somewhere to store your shoes/backpack outside the bedroom

6) I don’t want a tent, I want a shelter (fish, water, facilities)

βœ” When you’re more concerned with protection from the sun/rain than sleeping

Key specifications

1) Number of people (better to have some leeway)

  • If you want comfort, follow this simple rule:
    2 people β†’ rather a tent for 3, 3 people β†’ rather a tent for 4.

2) Type of tent (this is the most important factor)

  • Tourist / ultralight – when every gram counts
  • Self-erecting / 2 seconds – when you want speed and peace of mind
  • Quick-erecting – quick to set up + more space
  • Family – comfort, longer stays, stability

3) Construction: single-wall vs double-wall

  • Double-wall is usually a better choice for multi-day camping and changeable weather
  • Single-wall can be lighter and simpler (great for shorter trips)

4) Dimensions and interior comfort

  • You can filter by length/width (approx. 205–365 cm and 125–220 cm) in the categories – useful if you want to be sure of the space available.

5) Water column

The water column (in mm) indicates how well the material will withstand rain – ideally, check the flysheet and groundsheet separately.

  • Flysheet: approximately 1500–3000 mm
  • Floor: preferably 3000 mm and above
(For multi-day stays and worse weather, higher values are recommended.)

Mini checklist before purchasing

βœ” How many people will there be and do you want space for your belongings?

βœ” Do you mainly want speed of assembly or comfort for several days?

βœ” Will you be carrying the tent often (hiking), or will you just unload it from the car?

βœ” Are you concerned about morning light? Then blackout makes sense.
