how to choose a treadmill

A treadmill is the ideal solution for anyone who wants to walk or run regardless of the weather. Whether you want to lose weight, improve your fitness, rehabilitate or just exercise regularly, the right treadmill will help you significantly.

Our range includes high-quality treadmills from ACRA and MERACH, which cover a wide range of uses – from simple walking treadmills to powerful running models.

Key parameters to focus on

1. What will you use the treadmill for?

  • Walking/brisk walking – walking pads, smaller treadmills, lower speed
  • Light running & jogging – universal home treadmills
  • Regular and intense running – powerful treadmills with a strong motor and incline

The more frequent and demanding your training, the more robust the treadmill we recommend.

2. Motor power

  • Up to 1.5 HP – walking and light load
  • 1.75–2.5 HP – home running
  • 3.0 HP and above – intensive running and longer workouts

A more powerful motor = smoother running + longer service life.

3. Treadmill load capacity

  • The load capacity should be at least 15–20 kg higher than the user’s weight.
  • If the treadmill will be used by more than one person, always choose a higher load capacity.

4. Running surface dimensions

  • Walking: approx. 40 Γ— 100 cm
  • Running: ideally 45–50 Γ— 120–140 cm
  • Larger surface = greater comfort and safety when running.

5. Programmes, incline and functions

  • Training programmes – fat burning, intervals, endurance
  • Electric incline – simulates running uphill, increases fat burning
  • Display/app – tracks speed, distance, calories

6. Folding and space

  • Folding treadmills – ideal for apartments
  • Walking pads – can be slid under a bed or desk
  • Transport wheels – easy handling

Quick tips before buying

βœ” Higher load capacity = longer service life – a belt with a load capacity of ~20% above your weight is recommended if more people or heavier people are running.

βœ” A motorised belt is a must for running – non-motorised belts are mainly suitable for walking.

βœ” Running surface width over 46 cm – suitable for running; narrower ones are more suitable for walking or light jogging.
