How to Choose a Treadmill

A treadmill is the ideal solution for anyone who wants to walk or run regardless of the weather. Whether you want to lose weight, improve your fitness, undergo rehabilitation, or just get regular exercise, the right treadmill can make a big difference.

Our selection includes high-quality treadmills from ACRA and MERACH, which cover a wide range of uses—from simple walking treadmills to high-performance running models.

Key Parameters to Focus On

1. What will you be using the treadmill for?

  • Walking / brisk walking – walking pads, smaller treadmills, lower speeds
  • Light running & jogging – versatile home treadmills
  • Regular and intense running – high-performance treadmills with a powerful motor and incline

The more frequent and intense your workouts, the more robust the treadmill we recommend.

2. Motor power

  • Up to 1.5 HP – walking and light use
  • 1.75–2.5 HP – home running
  • 3.0 HP and above – intense running and longer workouts

A more powerful motor = smoother operation + longer lifespan.

3. Treadmill weight capacity

  • The weight capacity should be at least 15–20 kg higher than the user’s weight.
  • If multiple people will be using the treadmill, always choose a higher weight capacity.

4. Running surface dimensions

  • Walking: approx. 40 × 100 cm
  • Running: ideally 45–50 × 120–140 cm
  • A larger running surface = greater comfort and safety while running.

5. Programs, incline, and features

  • Training programs – fat burning, intervals, endurance
  • Electric incline – simulates running uphill, increases calorie burn
  • Display / app – tracks speed, distance, and calories

6. Folding and Space

  • Foldable treadmills – ideal for apartments
  • Walking pads – can be tucked under a bed or table
  • Transport wheels – easy to move

Quick Tips Before You Buy

Higher weight capacity = longer lifespan – we recommend a treadmill with a weight capacity of ~20% above your weight if multiple people or a heavier person will be using it.

A motorized treadmill is a must for running—non-motorized treadmills are mainly suitable for walking.

Running deck width over 46 cm—suitable for running; narrower decks are better suited for walking or light jogging.
