The tape-under-tape is an ultra-thin, lightweight, soft, and elastic tape made of porous polyurethane with hypoallergenic properties. It does not irritate the skin during application and is primarily used as a base layer for taping. It also has other uses, which are described below. When applying kinesiology tape, it forms an intermediate layer between the tape and the skin, thus protecting the skin from direct contact with the tape or adhesive. It is used primarily when applying tape frequently. You’ll especially appreciate it when removing the tape, as it protects both the skin and body hair. The under-tape wicks away moisture effectively and does not absorb it. This keeps the skin dry longer and helps the tape maintain its hold and shape better.
